The Hora is the planetary hour — a simple, ancient way to time small daily tasks by the planet that rules each part of the day. Where Choghadiya labels windows good or bad, the Hora tells you which planet's flavour a given hour carries, so you can match the task to the moment. It is read from the daily Panchang.
How the Horas Run
Each day from sunrise is divided into 24 Horas, each ruled by one of the seven visible planets in the classic Chaldean order: Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars — repeating through the day and night. The first Hora after sunrise is ruled by the planet of the weekday (Sun on Sunday, Moon on Monday, and so on), which is exactly why the days carry those names.
Which Hora for Which Task
- Sun — authority, government work, dealing with seniors.
- Moon — travel, emotional matters, public dealings.
- Mars — energy, sport, decisive action (and disputes).
- Mercury — communication, study, business and trade.
- Jupiter — learning, finance, ceremonies, anything auspicious.
- Venus — relationships, art, comfort, purchases.
- Saturn — labour, long-term and routine work.

A Hora is a planetary hour. Each day is divided into 24 Horas, each ruled by one of the seven visible planets, and you can time small tasks by choosing an hour whose ruling planet suits the activity.
How are the Horas ordered?
They follow the Chaldean order — Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars — repeating through day and night. The first Hora after sunrise is ruled by the weekday's planet.
Which Hora is good for which work?
Match the task to the planet: Jupiter and Mercury for learning and business, Venus for relationships and purchases, Sun for authority, Moon for travel, Mars for decisive action, Saturn for routine labour.
Is the Hora the same as Choghadiya?
No. Choghadiya labels windows as favourable or unfavourable, while the Hora tells you which planet rules each hour so you can match a task to its flavour. They are often used together.
