Nakshatra Calculator

By the BhagyaX Editorial Desk · computed on Swiss Ephemeris · checked against classical sources
Your birth nakshatra and pada, computed to the degree on Swiss Ephemeris — not looked up from a date table. Free, with dasha dates included.

What your nakshatra decides

The Vimshottari dasha sequence — the timing backbone of Vedic prediction — starts from the Moon's nakshatra at birth. Get the star wrong and every dasha date that follows is wrong too.

The 96.1% problem

Our 1,096-day computation found the Moon crosses a nakshatra boundary on 96.1% of days. That is why we ask for birth time and compute the pada — a quarter of a nakshatra — instead of approximating.

Quick answers

What is a pada?

Each nakshatra spans 13°20′ and divides into four padas of 3°20′ — the pada fine-tunes the navamsa and the flavour of results.

My apps disagree on my nakshatra. Why?

Different ayanamsas or rounded birth times. BhagyaX uses Lahiri on the Swiss Ephemeris and shows the computed degree, so you can see exactly where you fall.
